Makita BUB182Z LXT Lithium-Ion Cordless Leaf Blower Review

@ Melbournetoolsales

I came across the Makita BUB182Z cordless blower while visiting my brother at a job site last week. He’s a carpenter who builds houses. I was accustomed to seeing plenty of rechargeable Makita tools around their jobs before, but I had never seen the blower.

At first, I thought it was a toy. It was so small and lightweight. It didn’t seem like it would be capable of much of anything. But after trying it out and talking to my brother and his co-workers, I quickly found out otherwise.

My Review

The BUB182Z is part of Makita’s 18V LXT Lithium-Ion Cordless series. There are over 35 tools in the line, including saws, combo kits, and impact drills. All of the tools run off the same Makita rechargeable batteries. It is important to note that this blower does not include the battery or charger (you can purchase those separately on Amazon).

Rechargeable

My brother and his company use several of the Makita rechargeable tools, which was one of the main factors for purchasing the blower. The BUB182Z is not intended to be a leaf blower. Instead, it is built for contractors, maintenance men, electricians, etc., to be used for blowing off work areas, tools, and other spaces.

Compact Blower

The blower is very small compared to other handheld blowers I have used. You could almost fit it inside of a toolbox. After using it, I was surprised at how well it worked. It would not work well for blowing heavy leaves. But, when using it for what it is intended for, it does the job and then some.

I asked my brother and his co-workers what they thought of the blower, and they all had positive things to say. They mentioned how they liked to use it to blow off their tools at the end Makita blower of the day, instead of having to hook up an air compressor. They had been using it for close to a year and had not experienced any problems.

That evening, I got online to see what others were saying about the Makita BUB182Z cordless blower when I went home. Not surprisingly, over eighty percent of the reviews it received on Amazon were positive. The few negative reviews were mostly from people who did not realize that it was a bare tool and did not come with a battery or charger.

Several of the reviewers talked about how shocked they were at the compact size of the blower. It comes in a box not much larger than a shoebox. Some thought it was a joke. After they used it, though, they were pleasantly surprised with its performance.

3 speed variable motor

The 3 speed variable motor was another popular factor that was noted. If you set the blower to the 3 setting, the 2 finger trigger functions as a complete variable speed power tool. This allows you to blow with more force in areas that need it and vice versa.

The length of time the battery will last depends on the amount of power you are using it. On the high, 3 setting, the blower will go for about 12 minutes. When set to the low, 1 setting, it will last 75 minutes.

Vacuum Function

Like other members of the Lithium-Ion Cordless Series, the BUB182Z is a well-thought-out tool. You can use it as a blower, but it can also be used as a vacuum. You will need to purchase the bag attachment separately, which can be found at Amazon.com for $19.99.

Bottom Line

If you don’t own any other Makita rechargeable tools, the price tag for the blower, charger, and battery will be hard to justify. However, if you own other Makita rechargeable tools, this quality tool will make a welcome addition to your collection.
